About Acyclovir
Acyclovir is an anti-viral medication, most often used in the treatment of genital herpes. It is currently the only generic medication commonly used in the treatment of genital herpes, offering considerable price savings over some of the name brand medications, i.e. Valtrex and Famvir. Acyclovir is so much less expensive than these other treatments, and will likely remain so until generics become available for these other medications. The common name for Valtrex is valacyclovir, and famvir is famicyclovir.
